Greetings from Dumbork!

I tested the water this Monday, and noticed that the ammonia level increased, from 1.0 ppm to 2.0 ppm. I’m still not worrying, because I know that this is the start of the Nitrogen cycle. I’m just hoping that the cycle will be completed in the next couple of weeks — after all, the cycle can last up to 6 weeks!

The nitrate and nitrite levels are still 0. For the biological media to do its work, the nitrite level should increase, which is directly proportional to the increase of nitrate levels. As you know, the nitrate levels can be lowered by doing regular water changes. I’m just hoping that it will come soon!

So far, I haven’t noticed any changes in Dumbork, with regards to her appetite and activities. Her eyes seem a little swollen, but that’s just me, being a paranoid mom.

Wish us luck!
